About Oscar Pereiro
Oscar Pereiro is a former professional road bicycle racer. Pereiro participated in the 2004 Tour de France where he placed tenth. The following year, Pereiro participated in the 2005 Tour de France where he was awarded the Most Aggressive Rider Award. Pereiro came in second behind Floyd Landis at the 2006 Tour de France, but on September 20, 2007, Landis was found guilty of doping. Landis had to forfeit his victory, which made Pereiro the official winner. Pereiro also had an issue with doping as he tested positive during the 2006 Tour de France as well. It was discovered that salbutamol was found in two urine samples. Salbutamol is used to treat asthma, and it is allowed if the cyclist can provide a medical prescription. The investigation was dropped on January 25, 2007. At the 2008 Tour de France, Pereiro crashed over a guardrail, which marked the end of the tour for him and he suffered a broken arm. In December 2010, he announced that he signed with Segunda Division B club Coruxo FC.
