Jennie Reed

Jennie Reed was born and raised in Kirkland, Washington, and put herself on the map in the track cycling circuit when she won the 2 km pursuit and matched sprint events at the 1994 U.S. Junior Track National Championships. From that point on it was evident that she’d go on to do big things while representing her country. In 1997 she defended her title in the 2 km pursuit at the U.S. Junior Nationals, making her one of the most decorated junior cyclists ever. The following year she moved up to the senior level and won the keirin event at the 1998 U.S. National Track Championships. She’d go on to win a second title in that event in 2002. In 2004 she captured a bronze medal at the Melbourne World Championships in the Keirin event and would go on to win a bronze in the sprint and a gold medal in the Keirin at the 2008 Machester World Championships. In 2011 she set up what would eventually be Olympic glory by finishing with silver in the 2011 Apeldoorn World Championships. That foreshadowed that Silver Medal she and her teammates would win for the United States at the 2012 London Olympic games in the Team Pursuit event.
