Sarah Hammer

Sarah Hammer is a famous professional cyclist whom has represented the United States for many years and has gone on to become a two-time Olympic medalist. Hammer was born in California in 1983 and has an interesting story when it comes to the sport of cycling. She excelled tremendously on the bike throughout her childhood as her father introduced her to the sport at the age of eight. In 1995, she won her first junior title and went on to make it as an elite rider in the years to come. After only two years as a professional, Hammer made the tough decision to quit the sport as she did not feel it was paying off. She spent a year going to school and working various jobs until she watched her former teammates compete at the 2004 Olympics in Athens and a revelation occurred, making her realize she could not give up her passion for cycling. Hammer got back on the bike and went on to obtain 20 national championship cycling titles, including ten World Cup gold medals. Most recently, Hammer has earned two silver medals at the 2012 Olympic Games in London and serves as a remarkable example of how you can come back into anything that you want to even stronger than before.
