About Carlos Sastre
Carlos Sastre is a former professional road bicycle racer. In 1997, Sastre signed his first professional with ONCE. He spent five years with ONCE and he mostly served as a domestique and he only had a few wins. In 2000, Sastre won the mountain competition in the 2000 Vuelta a Espana. Sastre signed with Team CSC in 2002, and he filled the role of captain in the Vuelta a Espana. Sastre participated in the 2007 Tour de France and finished in fourth place. That same year, he also participated in the 2007 Vuelta a Espana where he finished second. In 2008, Sastre raced in the Tour de France and won. From 2009-2010, Sastre raced for the Cervelo TestTeam. In 2009, Sastre finished 16th overall in the Tour de France. In 2011, Sastre raced for the Geox-TMC before retiring from racing. During his years of racing, Sastre never tested positive or was caught in a doping investigation.
