About LZ Granderson
LZ Granderson is an American journalist for ESPN and CNN. His candor about being gay has given him a unique platform in the sports media world. Granderson is best known for his writing online and in ESPN The Magazine, but he has also contributed to SportsCenter, Outside the Lines, and First Take. Weekly, his columns appear on CNN.com. Granderson has been honored for his online journalism by the Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation and for column writing by the National Lesbian and Gay Journalists Association. He serves on the advisory board for You Can Play, an organization that fights homophobia in sports. In 2013, Granderson was an inaugural class inductee into the Gay & Lesbian Sports Hall of Fame. Prior to his time with ESPN and CNN, Granderson was a writer at the Atlanta Journal-Constitution and The Grand Rapids Press. The Detroit, Michigan native graduated from Western Michigan University. Granderson currently resides in Chicago.
