About Lon Kruger
Lon Kruger had a storied coaching career and was known as a builder and rebuilder of programs. He is the only coach to ever take five different schools to the NCAA Tournament. In his final role, Kruger revitalized Oklahoma basketball, won his 500th career game, and was named Big 12 Coach of the Year in 2014.Prior to arriving in Norman, he took UNLV to the tourney four times in seven years. Kruger also has tried his hand at coaching in the NBA with the Atlanta Hawks. His one regular-season conference championship came during a four-year stint at Illinois.Kruger is perhaps best remembered for putting the Florida Gators program on the map. He was a two-time SEC Coach of the Year and took the Gators to the Final Four in 1994. Kruger also coached at his alma mater Kansas State and Texas Pan-American. He was a former two-time Big Eight Player of the Year for the Wildcats.
