About Andy Enfield
Andy Enfield is the head basketball coach at SMU. Enfield took over the Mustangs program after a successful 11-year run at USC, where he guided the Trojans to five NCAA Tournament appearances.
Enfield is perhaps best known for the Cinderella story he orchestrated with previously unknown Florida Gulf Coast University. Enfield coached the Eagles to the Sweet 16 of the 2013 NCAA Tournament. Along the way, FGCU upset a two-seed in Georgetown and San Diego State, while earning the nickname “Dunk City” for their ferocity on the court. Enfield accomplished the March Madness success in only his second year on the job.
To make it in the basketball world, Enfield worked his way up, working as a shooting consultant on the side while keeping a job with a healthcare software company. Eventually, that led to jobs as a shooting coach with the Milwaukee Bucks and Boston Celtics before Enfield landed as an assistant at FSU for five seasons.
Enfield is also one of the greatest players in the history of John Hopkins basketball, owning 18 school records. Many have said his most impressive accomplishment though was marrying his wife, Amanda Marcum, a former model.
