About Bob McKillop
Bob McKillop is a native of Queens, New York, and played his college basketball at East Carolina and Hofstra from 1969 to 1972. After earning his degree from Hofstra he got into coaching and landed a head-coaching job at Holy Trinity High School from 1973 to 1978. After the 1978 season, he signed on as an assistant at Davidson University for one year before returning to the high school level as the coach of Long Island Lutheran.After 10 more seasons of high school ball, he was called up back up to Davidson in 1989 as their new head coach.He led the program to 11 SoCon regular season titles, seven SoCon tournament championships, and 13 SoCon division championships.He was also been named SoCon coach of the year eight times and earned Clair Bee Coach of the Year and NABC Coach of the Year honors in 2008 after leading his team to a 29-7 overall record and 20-0 conference record in route to making an Elite Eight appearance in the NCAA Tournament. He is perhaps known for his star player that year, Stephen Curry.
