About Kurt Rambis
Kurt Rambis is a Santa Clara University product and earned WCC Conference Player of the Year honors in 1980 before heading professional basketball as a third round pick of the New York Knicks. Upon being drafted he headed to Greece for one season and then returned to play for the Los Angeles Lakers for seven seasons from 1981 to 1988. During Rambis’ 13-year career in the NBA he played for the Lakers, Charlotte Hornets, Phoenix Suns, and Sacramento Kings before retiring with the Lakers in 1995. While playing for the Lakers he helped them to four NBA Championships in 1982, 1985, 1987 and 1988. After retiring from the NBA as a player he was hired by the Lakers as an assistant coach in 1995 and eventually became the head coach of the Minnesota Timberwolves in 2009. After two seasons with the Timberwolves he returned to the Lakers as an assistant. In 2014 he joined the New York Knicks as associate head coach.
