About Barry Collier
Barry Collier is a former successful college basketball coach who is now the athletic director at Butler University. Collier was the head coach at Butler for 11 seasons and at Nebraska for six. He laid the groundwork for the Bulldogs’ program that others like Brad Stevens, Todd Lickliter, and Thad Matta would build on. Collier took Butler to three NCAA Tournaments, including their first in 35 years. He was a five-time Midwestern Collegiate Conference Coach of the Year. Butler inducted him into their Athletics Hall of Fame. Collier did not have the same levels of success at Nebraska, but did take the Huskers to two NITs. After returning to Butler as an AD, he hired Stevens and the school would reach two national championship games under his tenure. Collier was a team captain and played two seasons at the school. Prior to becoming a head coach, he had assistant jobs at Rose Hulman, Seattle Central Community College, Idaho, Oregon, and Stanford. He grew up in Miami, Florida, attended Palmetto High School and spent two years at Miami-Dade Community College.
