About John Vanbiesbrouck
John Vanbiesbrouck played 20 seasons in the NHL as a goaltender with the New York Rangers, Florida Panthers, Philadelphia Flyers, New York Islanders and New Jersey Devils from 1981 to 2002. During that span he won 374 games and posted 40 shutouts, which are both the most by an American goaltender in NHL history. In 1986 he was awarded the Vezina Trophy as the NHL’s top goaltender, and also earned three NHL All-Star game selections in 1994, 1996 and 1997. Vanbiesbrouck currently holds New York Rangers franchise records for most assists in a single season by a goaltender with five, and most career assists by a goaltender with 25. He also competed on the USA National team, winning 15 games in 37 appearances and representing his country with honor at the 1998 Olympic games. Since his retirement he has become the general manager of the United States Hockey League’s Muskegon Lumberjacks.
