About Alexander Steen
Alexander Steen is a nine-year NHL veteran and alternate captain for the St. Louis Blues. Steen won a silver medal with Sweden at the 2014 Winter Olympics and played several years professionally in the Swedish Hockey League before coming to the NHL. He was a first round pick of the Toronto Maple Leafs in 2002. Steen has been in the playoffs four times, all as a member of the St. Louis Blues. His father, Thomas, played 14 years in the NHL, all for the Winnipeg Jets. Because of his father’s playing days in Canada, Steen has dual citizenship. When he scored his first goal on October 8th 2005, it marked the first time a Swedish father and son had both put one through the nets in the NHL. Steen and his family started the Amadeus Steen Foundation to raise money for infant health care after his youngest brother died of a heart condition at two months.
