Bill Guerin

In the 1989 NHL Entry Draft Bill Guerin was picked fifth overall by the New Jersey Devils. In his eighteen year playing career he played for eight teams, and was a part of two Stanley Cup Finals victories with the New Jersey Devils and the Pittsburgh Penguins. At the time of his retirement, Bill was ranked 7th all-time among Americans in scoring in the NHL with 429 goals. While those accomplishments are worth noting, Bill was also part of other NHL history. When he began playing Bill became the first player in the history of the league to be of Hispanic descent, thus paving the way for future players to make it to the top of their sport. On top of all that, Bill was selected to four NHL All-Star games and was a part of three Olympic teams. Since retiring at the end of 2010, Bill has been the player development coach for the Pittsburgh Penguins and currently serves as the assistant general manager of the team.
