Andy Moog

Andy Moog is a four-time All-Star goalie that played in the NHL for the Edmonton Oilers, Boston Bruins, Dallas Stars, and Montreal Canadiens. He ranks 15th all-time in goalie victories and was the second fastest goalie to 300 wins. Moog won Stanley Cups with the Oilers in 1984, 1985, and 1987, mostly serving as the backup in net for legend Grant Fuhr. He did step in for an injured Fuhr during the 1984 Cup and also was the playoff goalie for Edmonton’s Stanley Cup appearance in 1983. Once Moog was traded to Boston during the 1987-88 season, the Bruins made two consecutive trips to the Stanley Cup Final. He was especially successful against the Canadiens, being on teams that knocked them out of the playoffs four times. It was ironic when he was in net for a Montreal team that made the postseason in his final season. For a time in his career, Moog served as Vice President of the NHL’s Players Association and was a key spokesman the 1994-95 lockout. Following his playing days, he was a coach for the Vancouver Canucks and the Stars. Moog was also the goaltending consultant for Team Canada at the 2002 and 2006 Olympics.
