About Alex Ovechkin
Alexander Ovechkin is the captain of the Washington Capitals and one of the top stars in the National Hockey League. Ovechkin is a five time All-Star and three time NHL MVP. Known for his attacking style, he has led the league in goals scored in five different seasons. After being the number one overall pick in the 2004 NHL Entry Draft, Ovechkin had one of the best rookie seasons in league history, scoring 106 points in 05-06. That effort awarded him the Calder Memorial Trophy, given to the league’s top rookie. He is a three time World Champion for Russia and has led the Capitals to the playoffs six times. Ovechkin was one of the cover athletes on NHL 07 and has endorsement deals with Nike, Gatorade, and Bauer, among others. His 13 year, 124 million-dollar deal he signed before the 08-09 season makes him one of the highest paid players in the NHL.
