Joakim Noah was born and raised in New York City, New York and put his name on the map when he helped the University of Florida to back-to-back NCAA National Championships in 2006 and 2007. During his time with the Gators he was named the NCAA Final Four Most Outstanding Player and earned Consensus Second-Team All-American honors in 2007. In the 2007 NBA Draft he was selected in the first round with the ninth overall pick and has gone on to become one of the best allaround centers in the league. During his first seven seasons in Chicago he has helped the Bulls two six consecutive playoff appearances from 2009 to 2014 while also averaging a double-double in four of those seasons. In 2011 he was named to the NBA All-Defensive Second Team and followed that up with consecutive appearances on the NBA All-Defensive First Team in 2013 and 2014 and NBA Defensive Player of the Year honors in 2014. He also earned consecutive All-Star selections in 2013 and 2014 and a spot on the All-NBA First Team in 2014 after averaging a career high 12.6 points and 11.3 rebounds per game. Noah was a Bull for nine seasons overall before signing a free agent deal with the New York Knicks. He went on to play for the Memphis Grizzlies and Los Angeles Clippers before retiring from basketball in 2020.
