About Fabian Cancellara
Fabian “Spartacus” Cancellara is a Swiss professional road bicycle racer for UCI ProTeam Trek Factory Racing. Cancellara’s love for racing began at age 13, when he fell in love with an old family bike. In 1989 and 1999, Cancellara won the Junior World Time Trial Championship. At age 19, he came in second at the 2000 U-23 World Time Trial Championship and it was after this even that Cancellara turned professional with Mapei-Quick Step. Cancellara joined Fassa Bortolo after the folding of Mapei-Quick Step. Cancellara’s first victory occurred in Tour Mediterraneen. On April 6. 2003, Cancellara raced in his first ever classic in the Tour de Romandie. It was not until 2004, when Cancellara earned his first victory at the Tour of Qatar. In 2005, Cancellara signed a three-year contract with Team CSC during the 2005 Tour de France. In late June 2006, Cancellara won his third straight Swiss National Time Trial champion title. Cancellara started his 2007 season with no victories and had to wait until June before one occurred. Cancellara’s 2014 cycling season started off by Cancellara competing in the inaugural Dubai Tour. In September 2014, he announced that he would not compete in the Championship Time Trial event.
