About Dicky Eklund
Known as “The Pride of Lowell,” Dicky Eklund made his hometown proud when he captured the New England Welterweight Championship in 1983. Growing up fighting was his passion, and he used an amateur resume of over 200 boxing matches to launch his career into the professional ranks. One match after winning his title he decided to call it a career, finishing up with a 19-10 overall record with four knockouts to his credit. Eklund’s career in boxing was far from over however, as he then turned his attention to training his half brother Micky Ward. Their relationship was documented in the 2010 hit film, The Fighter. Eklund now works as a boxing coach and personal trainer in New England and is highly sought after for his technical boxing knowledge. He also travels the country with Micky Ward, sharing their story and inspiring others to achieve their dreams.
