USA Olympic Basketball Team Surprises Kids at Camp

There were some young kids that got the shock of a lifetime last month.  On June 27th, members of the 2016 Team USA basketball roster were unveiled at a USA Basketball clinic in Harlem, New York.

The clinic was at legendary Rucker Park.  Seeing superstars like Carmelo Anthony, Paul George and Kyrie Irving was quite the thrill for these basketball enthusiasts.

It was the first time all 12 members of the 2016 squad were together in uniform.  They will officially head to training camp in Las Vegas later this month and participate in a five-game U.S. exhibition tour before heading to Rio.

There is no question Team USA basketball is an iconic part of any Olympics.  The U.S. has won medals in each of the 17 Olympic tournaments it has entered a team and they have walked away with the gold on 14 occasions.

The 1992 U.S. team, known as the "Dream Team", particularly stands out in the minds of many.  That roster featured 11 future Hall of Famers and helped make basketball the global game it is today.

This team will try to follow up the 2008 and 2012 U.S. squads by winning the country's third consecutive gold medal.  They will be led in their efforts at these Games by Anthony, who is making his fourth Olympic appearance.
