About Joe Calzaghe
Joe Calzaghe held the WBO Super Middleweight title for over ten years from 1997 to 2008 and successfully defended his title 21 times, making him the longest reigning Super Middleweight world champion in history. Calzaghe was born and raised in Hammersmith, London and made his professional boxing debut in 1993 after a successful amateur career in which he won more than 12 matches and captured four schoolboy ABA titles to go along with three consecutive British Championships from 1990 to 1993. Two years after making his debut he captured the British Super Middleweight title and earned Young Boxer of the Year honors from the Professional Boxing Association. He’d go on to win the WBO Super Middleweight title in 1997 and eventually captured the IBF, WBC and WBA Super Middleweight Championships in route to posting an undefeated 46-0 career record. After his retirement he was named the best Super Middleweight of all-time
