Erik Morales

Erik Morales began his impressive professional boxing career at the age of 16, at which point he had already been boxing for 9 years. For the next 4 years, Morales made his way up the rankings of the WBC Super Bantamweight division until in 1997 he got his first shot at a title. At 21 years old, Morales won his first world title by knocking out Hall of Famer Daniel Zaragoza after 11 rounds and went on to defend his title 9 times. Morales vacated both his WBO & WBC Super Bantamweight titles in 2000 when he decided to give a try at the featherweight division. After just two fights, both knockouts, in his new weight class, Morales secured a third world title in his second weight class. Morales lost his first professional fight after 42 bouts but rebounded to reclaim his world title just two fights later. Morales then moved to his third weight class, Super Featherweight, where he won the world title by defeating current champion Jesus Chavez. One of Morales’ most impressive wins came in 2005 when he defeated three-time world champion Manny Pacquiao by unanimous decision. In 2011, Morales reached a goal he had been fighting for by becoming the first Mexican born boxer to win a WBC World Title in 4 different weight classes when he won the world title in the Light Welterweight division.
