Sylvain Chavanel is a retired road bicycle racer, who had a standout career from 2000-18. Chavanel won 45 races as a professional and he was known for his balanced riding style. At the Tour de France, he took first in three individual stages and was the two-time winner of the combativity award. His brother, Sebastien, also was a professional cyclist.
