About Sunil Gulati
Sunil Gulati is the former president of the U.S. Soccer Federation. He has over 30 years of experience in American soccer. Gulati was originally elected president of U.S. Soccer in 2006 and has subsequently been reelected twice. He also currently serves as one of three representatives from CONCACAF on the FIFA Executive Committee. Before becoming president, Gulati was the executive vice president at U.S. Soccer for seven years. During his career, he has held several other positions at U.S. Soccer and has been on the organization's Board of Directors since 1995. He was an instrumental figure in the early days of Major League Soccer as well, serving as the deputy commissioner of the league from its beginning from 1993-1999. In addition to his pursuits in the sports world, Gulati is a senior professor of economics at Columbia University.
