About Steve Deberg
Steve Deberg is a former NFL quarterback, who shined on the field from 1977 to 1998. Playing for over three decades, his best years included those in the 1990s, during which he was the starting quarterback for the Kansas City Chiefs. Beginning his professional career in San Francisco in 1977, Deberg started off slow but certainly made a name for himself throughout the years. He passed over 34,000 yards, while ranking in the top 20 all-time for attempts, completions, and yards passing. Deberg was also known as a fighter, playing with a portable amplifier when he had laryngitis one game and leaving a game against the Dolphins in blood and bruises only to return at halftime. This strong athleth, both mentally and physically, finished his professional career with 196 touchdowns. Deberg gave back to the sport he loved after retiring by coaching. He served as the head coach of the Arena Football League’s India Firebirds in 2004 and also served as an assistant coach for the Tampa Bay Storm.
