About Bob Lilly
Bob Lilly, known as Mr. Cowboy, played 13 seasons in the NFL with the Dallas Cowboys in the National Football League. Lilly is a Texas boy through and through, having been born and raised in Olney, Texas. After a stellar prep career in which he earned all-state honors in both basketball and football he headed to Texas Christian University, where he earned All-American honors in 1961. For his performance at TCU he also earned induction into the College Football Hall of Fame. During his 13 seasons in the NFL with the Cowboys as a defensive tackle he earned 11 Pro-Bowl selections, nine NFL All-Pro nods and 10 All-Conference selections. He also led the Cowboys to two NFC Championships and a win in Super Bowl VI. Lilly retired in 1974 and was named to both the NFL 1960’s and 1970’s All-Decade Team and the NFL 75th Anniversary All-Time Team. In 1980 he took his rightful place among the best to ever play the game in the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
