About Rob Murphy
Rob Murphy is a coach for the East Michigan basketball program. He began his career in coaching after he played the game in college at Central State University. Rob led his team to success and he himself became a two-time captain for the program. In his senior season he earned the Marauders Defensive Player of the Year Award. After graduating he went into coaching and became an assistant head coach at Detroit Central High School. In his first season he helped lead the team to the state finals and a Class A state title. In 2002 he moved to the college level and worked as an assistant at Kent State as well as Syracuse. In 2011 Rob got the opportunity to become a head coach for the first time at Eastern Michigan and in his first season he led the squad to a MAC-West Championship. He followed that up in the 2013-14 season by guiding the team to its first 20 win season since 1997.
