About Rafer Alston
Rafer Alston had a long-winding journey to NBA success, but his basketball flare will never be forgotten. The legend of “Skip 2 My Lou” became the foundation of the AND1 Mixtape Tour. Grainy footage of Alston’s uncanny moves on the court became extremely popular. He got a shot with the Milwaukee Bucks in 1999 and was a useful reserve point guard for three seasons. Alston would really pick up his play as a starter for the Miami Heat, averaging 12 points and four assists while the team made it to the Eastern Conference Semifinals in 2004. He also had a successful four-year run with the Houston Rockets. Alston provided a key boost to the Orlando Magic when he was traded there during the 2008-09 season. He filled in for an injured Jameer Nelson and the Magic advanced to the NBA Finals. Alston would play just one more NBA season, but his basketball legacy was cemented.
