About Allen Iverson
Allen Iverson captivated the hearts of a generation of basketball players with his tenacious style on the court. Iverson was an 11 time All-Star and the 2001 MVP during his 14 NBA seasons. He was originally the number one overall pick by the Philadelphia 76ers in 1996, led the league in scoring four times, and finished with 24,368 points. Iverson led the Sixers to the top of the Eastern Conference and the 2001 NBA Finals. He went to the playoffs eight times, six of those coming with Philadelphia and another two appearances with the Denver Nuggets. Iverson’s jersey is officially retired by the 76ers. At Georgetown, Iverson was a two time Big East Defensive Player of the Year and set the Hoyas record for career scoring average. He finished his professional career with Turkish league club Besiktas in 2011. Iverson’s image was controversial to some, but also an inspiration for many to seek out their own individuality.
