About Dirk Nowitzki
During Nowitzki’s 21-year NBA career with the Dallas Mavericks he earned 14 All-Star selections and four All-NBA First Team selections to go with five All-NBA Second Team and three All-NBA Third Team selections. In 2011 he reached the pinnacle of his basketball career, leading the Mavs to an NBA Championship and earning NBA Finals MVP honors. The German-born Nowitzki is a rare 7-footer that could do it all on the floor. In 2007 he was named MVP of the league after posting 24.6 points per game and 8.9 rebounds. That season he also joined the historic 50-40-90 club. As an international player, he was also highly successful. With six European Player of the Year honors and two FIBA Europe Player of the Year honors to his name, he is considered a living legend in the European basketball world. In 2012 Nowitzki was awarded the Naismith Legacy Award and followed that up by earning the Magic Johnson Award in 2014. He retired in 2019 ranked sixth all-time in NBA history with over 31,000 points scored.
