About Pervis Ellison
Pervis Ellison was the number one overall pick of the 1989 NBA Draft by the Sacramento Kings. Ellison persevered through numerous injuries to play 11 seasons in the league. In 1991-92, he was the NBA’s Most Improved Player, averaging 20 points and 11.4 rebounds a game in his first year as a starter. Ellison was a college star for four years at Louisville. As a freshman, he led the Cardinals to the NCAA Championship and was named Most Outstanding Player of the Final Four. Ellison would go on to be a three-time All-Metro Conference pick and a consensus first-team All-American in 1989. No other Louisville player has ever accumulated 2,000 points and 1,000 rebounds. Ellison is the school’s second leading career scorer and he had his jersey retired immediately following his college career. He is currently a coach at the Life Center Academy in New Jersey and has also spent time in the AAU coaching ranks. Ellison had funded several scholarships and started an education initiative back in the state.
