About Pavel Datsyuk
Pavel Dutsyuk is an NHL hockey player, currently playing for the Detroit Red Wings. Prior to coming to the NHL, Dutsyuk was a two sport star in Russia, excelling at both hockey and soccer. Although he was a star in Russia, Dutsyuk went undrafted in the 1996 and 1997 NHL Drafts, but was finally given a chance after a Detroit Red Wings scout stumbled upon him, drafting him with the 171st overall pick in 1998. Dutsyuk experienced moderate success early on in his career, and was a key player during the Red Wing’s 2002 Stanley Cup run. Dutsyuk rose to prominence in the 2004 season, making the NHL All-Star team for the first time, and leading the Red Wings to the playoffs once again. After the 2005 NHL Lockout, Dutsyuk truly became one of the best players in the league, winning multiple honors and becoming an offensive force for the Red Wings. Through his 12 seasons in the NHL, Dutsyuk has won two Stanley Cups, been elected to four All-Star games, and has won four consecutive Lady Byng Memorial Trophies.
