About Anze Kopitar
Anze Kopitar is synonymous with the recent success of Los Angeles Kings. The Slovenian center is an alternate captain and has spent his entire career in LA. Kopitar led the Kings to Stanley Cup win in 2012 and 2014, pacing the team in scoring both times. A two-time All-Star, he was originally selected in the first round of the 2005 NHL Draft. In 2006, Kopitar became the first Slovenian to play in the NHL. He finished third in rookie scoring and fourth in voting for the Calder Memorial Trophy. With two goals in his very first game that October, Kopitar proved he had staying power in the league. Kopitar has competed internationally for Slovenia many times, including the 2014 Olympics. His father, Matjaz, is the head coach of Slovenia’s national team. Anze’s Eleven is a charity that runs a charity golf tournament and hockey camp among other events. Kopitar is currently playing out a seven year, 47.6 million dollar extension with the Kings.
