Nolan Baumgartner

Nolan Baumgartner is a retired professional ice hockey defensemen. In 1994, Baumgartner won the 1994 Memorial Cup Championship with the Kamloops Blazers of the WHL The Washington Capitals selected Baumgartner as the 10th overall pick in the 1994 NHL Entry Draft. Once he was drafted, Baumgartner returned to the WHL to capture a second consecutive Memorial Cup in 1995. Baumgartner’s NHL career began with an uneven start due to a shoulder injury. He was traded to the Chicago Blackhawks on July 20, 2000. The Vancouver Canucks signed Baumgartner as a free agent on July 11, 2002. He spent one season with the Canucks before being placed on waivers and picked up by the Pittsburgh Penguins on October 3, 2003. Baumgartner only played five games with the Penguins before he was placed on waivers and reclaimed by Vancouver. Baumgartner played for the Canucks’ AFL affiliate Manitoba Moose in the 2003-04 season. Baumgartner became an unrestricted free agent on July 1, 2006 and he signed a two-year deal with the Philadelphia Flyers. He also played wit the Dallas Stars. Baumgartner retired at the end of the 2011-12 season with the Chicago Wolves.
