About McKayla Maroney
McKayla Maroney is two-time Olympic medalist and a three-time World Championships medalist. Maroney started gymnastics when she was two years old and when she was nine she began training at Gym-Max. In August 2009, Maroney competed at the Visa Championships and finished 27th in the all-around and third in the vault. The following year, Maroney competed at the CoverGirl Classic and placed 7th in the all-around. In September 2010, Maroney competed in the Pan American Championships and won the gold medal in vault, team and floor exercise. In 2012, Maroney competed in the Summer Olympics where she won the gold in team and silver in the vault. After winning the silver medal in the vault, Maroney’s photo of her on the podium became an Internet phenomenon known as, “McKayla is not impressed.” In March 2014, Maroney underwent knee surgery. She has also appeared on the CW television series, Heart of Dixie on November 20, 2012.
