About Hassan Whiteside
Hassan Whiteside is the standout center for the Utah Jazz. His path to NBA stardom is one of the unique stories in basketball today. Whiteside was the Conference USA Freshman of the Year and Defensive Player of the Year in 2010 at Marshall University. The Sacramento Kings selected him in the second round of the 2010 NBA Draft. He spent two seasons spending time between the Kings and the D-League before going overseas. The Miami Heat gave him a chance to return to the NBA in 2014 and he flourished. He finished fourth in NBA Most Improved Player voting. The following year, Whiteside led the league in blocks and was a member of the NBA All-Defensive Second Team. He also became the fastest player in Heat history to reach 1,000 rebounds and led them into the second round of the playoffs. After signing a contract extension in the offseason, Whiteside posted his best season yet in 2017. He averaged 17 points and a league-leading 14 rebounds per game.
