About Geoff Blum
Geoff Blum had a long-standing major league career, playing for six teams over 14 seasons. The Montreal Expos originally selected Blum out of the University of California in the seventh round of the 1994 MLB Draft. Blum debuted in the big leagues in 1999 and spent the first three seasons of his career with the Expos. He had his first stint with the Houston Astros from 2002-03. Blum played for the Tampa Bay Devil Rays in 2004 before signing with the San Diego Padres. Midway through the 2005 season, he was traded to the Chicago White Sox. Blum recorded a historic moment for the White Sox in the 2005 World Series. He hit a game-winning home run in the 14th inning of Game 3. That game is the longest ever in the history of the Fall Classic. Chicago went on to win the World Series and a statue of Blum is included in a group that commemorates the win inside their stadium. Blum returned to San Diego for two seasons and then played three years with the Astros. He finished his career with the Arizona Diamondbacks before retiring in 2012. Blum currently serves as a television commentator for Houston.
