About Bobby Valentine
Bobby Valentine played 11 seasons in the major leagues with the Los Angeles Dodgers, California Angels, San Diego Padres, New York Mets and Seattle Mariners from 1969 to 1979 as a utility player. After retiring as a player he began a successful professional baseball managing career that spanned 23 years. From 1985 to 1992 he served as the manager of the Texas Rangers and led his team to 581 wins. After the 1992 season he signed on at ESPN as an expert baseball analyst with Baseball Tonight and served in that role until being hired as the manager of the New York Mets in 1996. During his seven year stint with the Mets his teams won 536 games and 13 postseason games. After the 2002 season he left baseball and eventually made his broadcasting debut in 2009, covering the NLCS and World Series before returning to ESPN in 2010. Valentine served as the manager of the Red Sox for one season in 2012, then signed on as the athletic director at Sacred Heart University in 2013.
