About Chase Budinger
Chase Budinger has had two lives as a world-class athlete. Budinger is currently a pro beach volleyball player and made the U.S. Olympic Team in 2024. He previously spent seven seasons in the NBA and was a college basketball star.
Budinger first garnered headlines as a McDonald's High School All-American. He went to the University of Arizona where he started as a freshman for the Wildcats. After a successful freshman season, averaging 15.6 ppg and being named Pac-10 Freshman of the Year, He stayed for two more seasons with the Wildcats, averaging 17.0 points per game for his career and becoming a two-time All-Pac 10 selection.
In the 2009 NBA Draft, Budinger was drafted by the Detroit Pistons before being traded to the Houston Rockets later that night. Budinger impressed the Rockets in the NBA Summer League and earned himself plenty of playing time throughout his rookie season, setting a career-high 35 points in the team's final game of the regular season. Following the 2012 season, where Budinger had been selected to compete in the All-Star Game's Slam Dunk Contest, he was traded to the Minnesota Timberwolves.
