About Alex Deibold
Alex Deibold is the American extreme sports athlete who won bronze in snowboardcross at the 2014 Winter Olympics. Four years prior, he had been at the 2010 Games in Vancouver as a wax technician. Deibold fought his way into an Olympic career, working summer jobs without the benefit of a sponsor to back him. He was a significant underdog to medal in 2014. Deibold has made 36 FIS World Cup starts, had 11 top ten finishes, and been on the podium twice. Two times he has competed at the World Championships. Deibold has been in seven Winter X-Games, with a best finish of fourth coming in 2012. Deibold was on the first ever U.S. snowboardcross team. At age four, he took an interest in the sport when his mom gave him a snowboard for Christmas. Deibold grew up in Vermont, but lives in Boulder, Colorado.
