About Aimee Mullins
Aimee Mullins isan inspirational Paralympic athlete. Mullins had to have both legs amputated when she was a year old due to fibular hemimelia. At Georgetown University, she participated in track and field and became the first amputee to compete in NCAA history. Mullins was a pioneer as the first person to use the “Cheetah” carbon-fibre spinning legs. She travels the world sharing her message and her TED Conference talks are among the most popular ever produced. A 1996 Paralympics participant, Mullins set world records in the 100 meters, 200 meters, and long jump before her career was over in 1998. From 2007-2009, she served as President of the Women’s Sports Foundation. As the U.S.’s Chef de Mission for the 2012 Olympics and Paralympics, Mullins was given the highest honor the United States Olympic Committee can hand out. That same year, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton appointed her to the Council to Empower Women and Girls Through Sports. In addition to her tremendous achievements through sports, Mullins has done extensive modeling and acting work.
