Charley Steiner

Charley Steiner attended Bradley University where he received his first opportunity for his illustrious broadcasting career. Steiner’s first several years in the industry were spent on the radio, working as a sports broadcaster for several different radio stations across the country. While in Cleveland, Steiner first got an on-air opportunity as a sports broadcaster for WKYC-TV. In 1978, Steiner entered the boisterous New York market for multiple radio stations as a sportscaster. Steiner joined ESPN in 1988 as an anchor on the channel’s flagship program, SportsCenter. Steiner was one of the comical anchors on the show and was one of the original stars of the show’s promotional commercials, This Is SportsCenter. Steiner took over the lead announcer for ESPN Radio’s coverage of MLB and in 2002 left the network to join the radio booth of the New York Yankees. Steiner moved on to be the voice of his childhood favorite Los Angeles Dodgers in 2004. Steiner has won several awards for his broadcasting, including an Emmy Award, a CableACE Award, several Best Radio Play-by-Play Awards, and in 2013 was inducted into the National Radio Hall of Fame.
