Cameron McEvoy

Cameron McEvoy stands as an Australian competitive swimmer who specializes in sprint freestyle competitions. McEvoy was born on May 13, 1994, in Gold Coast, Queensland, and has competed for Australia at four consecutive Summer Olympics starting from London 2012 through Rio 2016, Tokyo 2020 and Paris 2024. McEvoy achieved his first Olympic gold medal at the 2024 Paris Olympics by winning the men's 50m freestyle event which marked his historic victory as the first Australian male champion in this event.

McEvoy has obtained numerous World Championship medals including the gold medal in the 50m freestyle at the 2023 World Aquatics Championships in Fukuoka. Through his achievements McEvoy has established himself as one of the leading swimmers of Australia.

McEvoy earned his degree in Physics and Mathematics from Griffith University which led his teammates to call him "The Professor". His academic background has shaped his training methods through the implementation of data-based approaches and new techniques.

McEvoy trains under coach Tim Lane at Somerville House in 2025 while preparing for the 2032 Brisbane Olympics with plans to extend his swimming career until his late 30s.
