About Fu Mingxia
Fu Mingxia is a former professional diver who competed in the Olympics while representing her home nation of China. Originally a gymnast, Mingxia transitioned over to diving at the age of seven, catching the eye of Olympic trainer Yu Fen in 1989. With Fen, Mingxia trained at the top boarding school for diving in China, and became good enough to turn professional in 1990 at the U.S Open, capturing a gold medal. For the next two years, Mingxia competed all around the world, winning multiple medals and earning a spot on the Chinese Olympic team for the 1992 games. Due to her advanced tricks and skill, Mingxia captured a gold medal, becoming the youngest medal winner in Olympics history. Mingxia would go on to compete again at the 1996 Olympics and the 2000 Olympics, winning gold medals at both. At the time of her retirement, Mingxia had a total of ten medals, including five Olympic medals, making her one of the most decorated Olympic divers of her time.
