About Billy Kennedy
Billy Kennedy is a former college basketball coach, who most recently was the head coach of the men's basketball program at Texas A&M University. He led the Aggies to two Sweet Sixteen appearances in seven years. Kennedy landed his first head coaching position at Centenary after working as an assistant coach for 12 years. In just his second season Billy led his team to its best record in five seasons. Kennedy has since been a head coach at Southern Louisiana and Murray State where he led his teams to the Southland and Ohio Valley tournament championship and Billy himself has been both the Ohio Valley and Southland Coach of the Year. Billy landed his current position at Texas A&M in 2011 and considers it the place where he would like to stay until he retires. It has not been all success and glory for Billy since getting the A&M job. He was diagnosed with early-stage Parkinsons disease and was forced to temporarily put associate coach Glynn Cyprien in charge. After just a few weeks Kennedy returned to his position and hasnt left since.
