April Heinrichs Biography

April Heinrichs was one of the pioneers for U.S. women's soccer. Heinrichs was one of the first players named to the national team and helped the squad win the 1991 Women's World Cup. Overall, she made 46 appearances for Team USA and scored 35 goals. She coached the women's national team from 2000-04, winning two Olympic medals. Heinrichs also coached several programs on the collegiate level. She was the first woman inducted into the National Soccer Hall of Fame in 1998. In college, Heinrichs was a National Player of the Year and three-time All-American at the University of North Carolina.
