About Carli Lloyd
Carli Lloyd was a two-time World Cup champion and two-time Olympic gold medalist. Lloyd began playing soccer at five years old and at that time she played on a coed team. In high school, Lloyd played soccer and she was named to the Star-Ledger All-State First Team twice, and she received Parade All-Honors in 1999 and 2000. She attended Rutgers University where she played soccer for the Scarlett Knights from 2001-2004. Every year at Rutgers, Lloyd was named to Soccer America’s All-Freshman Team and she was the first Rutgers player to earn Big East Rookie of the Year, honors. Lloyd played for the W-League teams Central Jersey Splash, New Brunswick Power, and South Jersey Banshees while she was still in high school. Lloyd participated in the 2008 Olympics where she scored two goals. In 2007, Lloyd was the Algarve Cup Most Valuable Player. She has also won the U.S. Soccer Athlete of the Year, FIFA World Player of the Year, and NSWL Player of the Week.
