About Carla Overbeck
Carla Overbeck is a retired soccer player and she currently is an assistant coach for Duke University’s women’s soccer team. Overbeck began playing soccer at 11 years old for the Dallas Sting, a club soccer team and they won two championships. Overbeck attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill where she played soccer from 1986 to 1989. In each of her four seasons with the Tar Heels she won the NCAA Women’s Soccer Championship. In 1998, Overbeck played for the Raleigh Wings of the W-League where she helped the team clinch the league’s championship title. She then played for the Carolina Courage in the WUSA from 2001-02. Overbeck has also appeared on the U.S. National Team that won the first-ever FIFA Women’s World Cup in 1991. She also participated in the 1995 FIFA Women’s World Cup, the 1996 Summer Olympics and the 1999 Women’s World Cup. Overbeck began her assistant coaching career with Duke University in 1992.
