About Ann Wauter
Belgian basketball legend Ann Wauters spent twenty years playing basketball across three continents. In 2000 she became the first Belgian-born player to receive the WNBA Draft selection when the Cleveland Rockers picked her as their first overall choice at the age of 19. During her WNBA career Wauters played for the New York Liberty, San Antonio Silver Stars, Seattle Storm and Los Angeles Sparks before winning a WNBA championship with the Los Angeles Sparks in 2016.
Wauters achieved international success by winning four EuroLeague titles and earning five European Player of the Year awards. She achieved multiple domestic league championships throughout her career in France, Russia, Spain and Turkey.
After the Tokyo Olympics in 2021 Wauters ended her professional playing career to start her coaching career. In January 2022 she joined the Chicago Sky as an assistant coach to bring her leadership and extensive experience to the team.
Wauters uses her motivational speaking career and authorship of "The Game of Life" to share how she transformed from a shy girl into an internationally recognized sports figure. She dedicates her time to social causes by working with SOS Children’s Villages and serving as the godmother for the Gbasket at Kortrijk Spurs.
