Andy Ruiz Jr. became the unified world heavyweight boxing champion in June 2019 when he defeated Anthony Joshua by TKO in the seventh round. With the victory, Ruiz took command of the WBA, IBF, WBO and IBO belts. He was just the second Hispanic person and the first of Mexican descent to win the heavyweight title. Even prior to beating Joshua, Ruiz had over 30 professional victories. He originally made his pro debut in 2009 after racking up a 105-5 record as an amateur.
