Alejandro Bedoya is a star American soccer player who has played for the United States men's national team. He currently is a standout in MLS for the Philadelphia Union. Bedoya was originally called up to the national team in 2009. He was a member of the team that won the 2013 CONCACAF Gold Cup and participated in the 2014 World Cup. Bedoya has played for the Union since 2016. He made headlines in 2019 for taking an on-field microphone during a 2019 match and lobbying for an end to gun violence. That same week, he was also named MLS Player of the Week. Prior to coming back to the States, Bedoya played for several teams internationally.
